Saskatchewan Institute of Agrologists (SIA) Customer Success
The Saskatchewan Institute of Agrologists (SIA) regulates the profession of agrology in Saskatchewan by ensuring its safe, competent, and ethical practice. The institute registers approximately 1,900 Professional Agrologists (PAg) and Technical Agrologists (TechAg) in Saskatchewan.
As outlined in The Agrologists Act, SIA’s mission is to promote and increase the knowledge, skill and proficiency of its members in the practice of agrology. All new applicants applying to the Institute must complete an Articling Program before qualifying to apply for a Professional or Technical designation. As part of the Articling process, all students are required to complete a professionalism and ethics course and exam.
SIA, a long-term customer, initially met with the SkillBuilder Team to review options on how to create and deliver courseware for their Professionalism and Ethics Program.
The Challenge
Saskatchewan has a large rural community, with agrologists working across the province. The ability to connect these individuals with a meaningful program was critical. SIA was looking for both course development support and a delivery technology that they could securely manage independently.
The Solution
SIA worked with the Learning Resource Development team and our highly credentialed and experienced Instructional Designers to design, write and develop an engaging online course and articling exam. They also worked with our SkillBuilder® LMS Technology team to implement and customize SkillBuilder® Learning Management System (LMS). SIA had strong foundational content that lent itself nicely to an online delivery model.
The Result
As early adopters of online learning, SIA led the way for online course delivery and assessment in the industry. SIA has administered over 600 successful exams over the past few years and their program continues to grow. Additionally, they continue to work with the SkillBuilder Team to expand their online offering.
