PolicyWise for Children & Families Customer Success

PolicyWise for Children & Families is an Alberta-based non-profit and charitable organization committed to informing, identifying, and promoting effective social policy and practice to improve the well-being of children, youth, and families.

PolicyWise has worked with the SkillBuilder® team to create both a multi-module course that would help family day home agency consultants in Alberta strengthen their core competencies, as well as an online program, Spark, that educators and program leaders working in early learning and child care programs across Alberta could use to better practice culturally responsive child care.

The challenge

PolicyWise needed to create visually appealing, interactive and easy to navigate online programs for educators, program leaders and consultants working in early learning, child care and day home programs across Alberta. The eLearning (developed in both English and French) needed to appeal to a wide learning audience, across a geographically diverse area. The courses needed to be engaging enough that learners would feel encouraged to keep moving forward, and flexible enough that learners could approach the materials whenever and wherever worked best for them.

The solution

With both courses, our team of Instructional Designers, Graphic Artists, eLearning Developers and Multimedia Specialists worked together to use source materials to build attractive, accessible, interactive, easy to navigate eLearning pieces that featured original illustrations and animations, clear learning objectives, easily digestible content and storytelling scenarios pulled from real-world experiences.

With Spark, PolicyWise also partnered with BaseCorp to deliver the program through SkillBuilder® LMS. The team created a branded landing page, a learning plan, demographic questions and post-module surveys and completion certificates. Now, PolicyWise can easily pull the information they need on learners, and learners are given a seamless, visually appealing online experience.
